Carmarthen to Play at Home in Play-Offs

Carmarthen Town clinched pole position in the race for the final Europa League spot by beating Champions The New Saints at Richmond Park on Tuesday night.

The fact that the Old Gold inflicted only the 3rd Corbett Sports WPL defeat of the season on the Saints secured their highest League finish since 2001 when they also finished 3rd under the guidance of Tomi Morgan.

Carmarthen had the better of the first half but failed to beat Paul Harrison. However in the 59th minute – Christian Doidge headed home to claim his 17th Corbett Sports WPL goal of the season which proved to be decisive. It was Carmarthen’s first goal of the season against TNS at the 4th time of asking.

The victory also meant that Carmarthen will have home advantage throughout the Play-Off process. They will host either Rhyl or Bala on Saturday May 10th and if they win that match – the Final will also be at Richmond Park at 3pm on May 17th.
