Aberystwyth 6 Port Talbot 1

Aberystwyth's last League home game at Park Avenue for at least a season saw the home side empatically beat lowly Port Talbot 6-1 on Tuesday night.

The Seasiders were 4-0 up at the break thanks to a Geoff Kellaway brace and efforts from Mark Jones and Chris Venables.

Rhys Griffiths pulled one back early in the second period for the Steelmen before late efforts by Rhydian Davies and a second by Venables sealed an impressive victory for Ian Hughes's boys. Top scorer Venables's Corbett Sports WPL goals tally for the season is now 24.

A point in their final fixture at Prestatyn will guarantee Aber 7th position which would leave Bala's Play-Off hopes dependent on Aberystwyth winning the Welsh Cup.

Yng ngêm Gynghrair olaf Aberystwyth ar Goedlan y Parc am o leiaf dymor – fe hawliodd y clwb cartref fuddugoliaeth swmpus yn erbyn Port Talbot nos Fawrth.

‘Roedd mantais y clwb cartref yn 4-0 ar yr egwyl diolch i ddwy gôl Geoff Kellaway ac ymdrechion Mark Jones a Chris Venables.

Er i Rhys Griffiths barchuso’r sgôr rhywfaint yn fuan wedi troi – sicrhaodd goliau hwyr Rhydian Davies ac ail Venables driphwynt diamheuol i fechgyn Ian Hughes. Mae Venables wedi rhwydo 24 o goliau Cynghrair y tymor yma ac ef sy’n arwain siart y prif sgoriwr.

Bydd pwynt ym Mhrestatyn ddydd Sadwrn yn cadarnhau Aber yn y 7fed safle a byddai hynny’n golygu mai’r unig ffordd y gallai’r Bala gystadlu’n y gemau ail-gyfle fyddai buddugoliaeth i Aber yn Rownd Derfynol Cwpan Cymru.
