The New Saints 3-1 Newtown AFC (FT)

The Saints controlled the game during the first 10 minutes with patient build up play.

Chris Jones has a rasping shot blocked by Sutton (22), impressive defending by the Robins rearguard. Four minutes later Robins take the lead. Rawlinson with a terrible error across his box as Luke Boundford nips in to slot the Robins in front. 32 minutes on the clock and Greg Draper equalises for TNS, the New Zealand International pounced on a loose ball in the box and smashed home from just inside the six yard box.

Just before half time Matty Williams rifles a powerful shot over the bar from close range and misses the opportunity to put the home club infront at the break.

On 55 minutes Connell Rawlinson puts TNS ahead. The TNS defender headed home from a corner to put his side in the lead for the first time in the game. Newtown pressed and pressed for another goal to level the game but were unable to do so.

In added on time Newtown lose possession and Saints break, Chris Jones did wonderfully well to beat his man and produce a wonderful cross for Draper to easily head home.
