A bright day brought some fierce challenges with Aber's Kelly Thomas and Ffiona Evans in the thick of the action, whilst Cardiff's Alicia Davies and Danielle Broadhurst kept the visiting defence of Sian Evans, Lucy Hughes and Gwenno Evans busy.
At the other end a 37th minute free kick taken by Aber's Gemma Kay found the safe hands of Aiesha McGunn, the home goalie was stretching again minutes later from a hard strike off the foot of Amy Jenkins.
The second half saw pressure from Cardiff's Shanelle Edwards left wing run which was intercepted by Stephanie Land, who moments later passed a through ball to Katie Edwards just to see the shot go wide of the post.
Aber's Debbie Hammer battled Kaylie Pugh for midfield and the visitor's Lowri Walker from a perfectly timed pass from Michelle Charest almost stole a point half way throught the second half.
However Cardiff City held their nerve and walked away with the spoils, but Manager Ray Hughes and assistant Kevin Jenkins were pleased with the performance and put the squad in good spirits for next weeks Central Wales quarter final againat Llanfair.
