Former Neath FC goalkeeper Anthony Williams has joined the coaching staff at Portsmouth
Former Neath FC goalkeeper Anthony Williams has joined the coaching staff at Portsmouth FC.
The 36-year-old also takes up the role of Richie Barker’s assistant at the former Premier League side.
Williams is a trusted ally of Barker, having worked alongside him at both Bury and Crawley. The Welshman also served with director of football Steve Coppell with the Reds until he was shown the door on the same day as Barker.
Williams represented 13 clubs in his playing career with his time at Hartlepool standing out during a 146-match period, but former Welsh Premier league side Neath was his last club in the 2009/10 season where he made 20 appearances.
Williams is not the only former Welsh Premier 'keeper now plying his trade as a goalkeeper coach in the football league, as one of the League's best-ever stopper's, Lee Kendall, is currently in that same role at Bristol City.
