Friday Victories for Saints and Citizens

Afan Lido (Lido Afan) 1 The New Saints (Y Seintiau Newydd) 2

An 89th minute header from Mike Wilde secured TNS’s 5th consecutive Corbett Sports WPL victory. The 3 points seemed unlikely for long periods of the match and it was Chris Hartland who put the bottom side ahead in the first half.
He was the Lido hero at Bastion Gardens on Saturday as he bagged a brace – and it was his goal after 28 minutes at the Marston’s Stadium on Friday which put the Lido ahead against the League leaders.
It took the Saints until the 56th minute to level things up as Chris Marriott netted his 25 yard free kick with great accuracy. Marriott almost repeated his feat late on but was denied a second goal by the Lido woodwork. But once again it was Michael Wilde’s late intervention which proved decisive. His close range header in the final minute bagged all 3 points for the Saints.

Sicrhaodd Y Seintiau Newydd eu bod yn parhau ar frig y tabl wedi buddugoliaeth hwyr yn Lido Afan nos Wener.
Y clwb gwaelod ddechreuodd orau ac wedi bron i hanner awr o chwarae fe rwydodd Chris Hartland ei drydedd gôl mewn chwe niwrnod i roi’r Lido ar y blaen. Cic rydd Marriott o 25 llath ddaeth a’r Pencampwyr yn gyfartal wedi 11 munud o’r ail gyfnod a bu ond y dim iddo ail-adrodd ei gamp yn hwyr yn y gêm – ond taro’r postyn wnaeth yr ymdrech honno.
Serch hynny – gyda munud yn unig ar ôl – peniodd Mike Wilde y gôl fuddugol sy’n rhoi mantais o driphwynt i’r Pencampwyr dros Airbus bellach.

Airbus UK 0 Bangor 1

This match was preceded by a minute’s silence in remembrance of the two people who died at Hawarden airport earlier in the day.
Once the game kicked off Bangor managed to avenge their defeat at The Book People Stadium last month thanks to Jamie Petrie’s 65th minute strike.
Having not lost a competitive match in 7 months – the Wingmakers have now tasted 2 League defats and a Word Cup exit within 7 days and they will undoubtedly see this as a missed opportunity to put further pressure on The New Saints at the top of the table.
3 late red cards were shown to Davies, Bolland and Owen for violent conduct.

Cynhaliwyd munud o dawelwch cyn y gêm er cof am y ddau berson gafodd eu lladd ym maes awyr Penarlag yn gynharach yn y diwrnod.
Unwaith i’r gêm ddechrau ‘roedd Bangor yn benderfynol o dalu’r pwyth am y golled yn Nantporth fis diwethaf a llwyddodd ymdrech Jamie Petrie wedi 65 munud i sicrhau’r fuddugoliaeth gofiadwy hon i’r Dinasyddion.
Cafodd Davies o Fangor a Bolland ac Owen o Airbus gerdiau coch am ymddygiad treisgar yn 6 munud ola’r gêm.

Bydd bechgyn Brychdyn yn siomedig iddyn nhw golli tir ar Y Seintiau ar frig y tabl wedi’r golled hon.

Wythnos yn ôl ‘doedd Airbus heb golli gêm gystadleuol ers 7 mis. Maent bellach wedi colli dwy gêm Gynghrair ac wedi methu a chyrraedd Rownd Derfynol Cwpan Word.
