An FAW Disciplinary Panel met on Thursday, 12th September 2013 to consider charges of misconduct brought against Christopher Simm of Airbus UK Broughton FC in relation to statements made on his Twitter account on 17th May and 11th August 2013.
After carefully considering the evidence submitted, and due to inappropriate and racial nature of the language used, the Panel decided that Christopher Simm should be suspended for a total of six matches and fined £400.
The Airbus UK Broughton FC striker has seven business days as and from Monday, 16th September 2013 to appeal against the decision of the FAW Disciplinary Panel.
Through the FAW ‘Off The Pitch’ (@FAW_OffThePitch) campaign, the Association takes a pro-active role in educating players, clubs and officials with regards to the use of social media.
With best practice, the FAW recognises the positive influence it can bring to Welsh football. As a result, the ‘Off The Pitch’ advice has been distributed to every registered player within the Directly Affiliated Leagues over the last twelve months.
Before the commencement of the 2013/14 season, members of the FAW Compliance Department conducted face to face discussions with Corbett Sports Welsh Premier League club officials and player representatives with regards to the ‘Off The Pitch’ initiative and the general use of social media within sport.
