He is a very physical midfielder who is strong in the tackle and can be a great asset for us
Newtown manager Bernie McNally has spoken about his third summer signing Tom Goodwin, after the midfielder completed his move to Latham Park on Tuesday night.
McNally said the former Llanidloes Town man is going to be a great asset to the Robins this season.
"He is a very physical midfielder who is strong in the tackle and can be a great asset for us."
McNally added, "He was recommended to us last season, and after speaking to more people about Tom I moved in to sign him."
Goodwin won all the awards at The Daffodils end of season dinner last year, and has played for Newtown in the past along with Prestigne St Andrews, Rhayader Town and Llandrindod Wells.
Bernie also went on to say, "I have watched him once or twice, and he has been training and I like what I see."
Goodwin scored over 30 goals for Llanidloes in the Spar Mid Wales league last season, and goalscorers is what McNally has been looking for all summer.
Shane Sutton has re-signed for the Robins
McNally has also confirmed that a quartet of last season's squad have also re-signed for the new campaign. Long serving Shane Sutton has committed himself to the Latham Park men for another season along with Zach Evans, Luke Boundford and Iain Edmunds.
And manager Bernie McNally is delighted to get the players back on board. "It is great to get these lads back on board and we are now building a small nucleus to the side, with 9 or 10 players now signed."
He added, "If we can keep this together now, and add four or five youth team players together I will be happy."
