Port Talbot Town's first-team squad regrouped early on Saturday morning as pre-season training began on a sun-soaked Aberavon beach.
Around twenty players were greeted by Scott Young, Marc Cahill and Vince Lewis at the GenQuip Stadium before undergoing a light session alongside the water’s edge.
Amongst those were youth-team products Luke Martin and Jordan Edwards, who will be looking to use pre-season to stake a claim in the first-team squad. Both return to the fold having completed successful loan spells in the Welsh League with West End and Bridgend Town respectively.
For Scott Young, he was simply glad to be back taking training: “It was great to wake up this morning and come to the club and take a training session. Obviously it’s our first one, so it was nice and light, with a bit of banter. It was just a re-engagement session.”
I know what it’s like being a player and it’s not fun running without a football, so everything we do will predominantly be done with a football
“We had one or two boys missing with some in work and some still coming back from holiday, so things will start properly on Tuesday.
“I know what it’s like being a player and it’s not fun running without a football, so everything we do will predominantly be done with a football. Yes, we’ll work hard but we’ll have a bit of fun along the way.”
