CARDIFF MET 7 NORTHOP HALL 1
The students kept the pressure on Cardiff City FC and also kept the title race very much alive by beating Northop Hall on Sunday afternoon. A goal in each half by Emily Brown(11,54), complimented by efforts from Steph Turner (15), Laura May (31), Siobhan Humphrey (42), Emily Allen (75) and Chloe Tucker (81) secured a comfortable victory for the home side.
Next week will also be busy for the Met as they take on Cardiff City Ladies in the Cup Final at Parc Y Scarlets on Tuesday evening before travelling to Aberystwyth on the 12th.
LLANIDLOES 2 ABERYSTWYTH 3
Not many people would have predicted an Aber victory at Llanidloes on Sunday – but the visitors took the lead after 20 minutes courtesy of a Sam Gaunt penalty. In the incident that lead to the spot kick ‘Llani’ goalkeeper Rebecca Gunson was sent off for fouling Clare Thomas which obviously left the home side with a mountain to climb.
However Llanidloes responded well as Kate Thomas was brought down in the box – and Nia Davies converted the penalty with confidence.
Aberystwyth secured a two goal advantage midway through the second period through Alice George (55) and Amy Jenkins (66) and although Eleri Parry claimed halved the deficit with a quarter of n hour remaining – Aberystwyth held on for their valuable victory.
CAERNARFON 1 NEWCASTLE EMLYN 8
Newcastle Emlyn showed Caernarfon how to convert chances into goals at a sunny Oval on Sunday.
An unstoppable free kick from Caroline Cooper from 25 yards opened the score for the visitors after 15 minutes and four further first half goals followed from Sharon Llewellyn (20), Jackie McKinley (24) Kirsty Fisher (35) and Stacey Webber (45).
Caernarfon’s hard work was rewarded after 69 minutes as Sioned Jones beat stand in keeper Deb Wise but 10 minutes later Fisher bagged her brace and 60 seconds later Briony Davies put the Emlyn in their seventh heaven.
Josey Bellers completed the scoring for Newcastle Emlyn with 3 minutes of the game remaining.
