The New Saints took another huge stride towards retaining their Corbett Sports Welsh Premier League title by beating Bangor comfortably at Park Hall. The writing was on the wall for the Citizens before the kick off as club Captain James Brewerton dislocated his knee in the warm up. Michael Wilde opened the scoring after 26 minutes as he took full advantage of Aeron Edwards' subtle touch to beat Lee Idzi. Wilde claimed his 17th WPL goal of the season 6 minutes later as he found the top corner with a lovely right foot shot. Alex Darlington completed the first half scoring in the final minute as another classy finish beat Idzi in the Bangor goal and he claimed his 14th League goal of the season 8 minutes after the break. Darlington completed his hat-trick 4 minutes later and a Matty Williams penalty 6 minutes from time made it 6-0 and inflicted a record WPL defeat on Neville Powell's side.
AIRBUS UK BROUGHTON 2 PORT TALBOT TOWN 0
Airbus took advantage of Bangor's defeat - by claiming the 3 points against Port Talbot at the Hollingsworth Group Stadium - and jumped above the Citizens into second place in the process. Jason Jarrett's 13th minute effort - his first goal of the season - set the Wingmakers on their way to victory and Steve Abbott doubled the advantage with 2 minutes remaining of the opening period. Airbus' dream of securing European football for the first time in their history is very much alive.
CARMARTHEN TOWN 3 PRESTATYN TOWN 2
The Old Gold secured their first Phase 2 victory of the season and avenged their recent Welsh Cup Defeat at the hands of the Seasiders on Saturday afternoon. Neil Gibson was unhappy before the game with the state of the Richmond Park pitch but the home team adapted best to the difficult conditions as they slotted 3 first half goals into the Prestatyn net. Corey Thomas claimed the first Carmarthen goal after 23 minutes and Liam McCreesh doubled the advantage after 34 minutes of play. Casey Thomas - not to be out-done by his brother scored the home side's third with 9 minutes of the first half left.
Prestatyn started the second half well as Mark Smyth netted 4 minutes after the break and with a little over 20 minutes of the game to play Greg Stones claimed the second goal for the visitors. Despite a period of late pressure Prestatyn failed to claim a point at a very wet Richmond Park.
LLANELLI 4 ABERYSTWYTH TOWN 3
Llanelli climbed out of the relegation zone on Saturday as they won a 7 goal thriller at Stebonheath on Saturday.
The home side secured a two goal advantage within the first 14 minutes thanks to Jeff White and Alex Evans goals - but Aberystwyth showed their battling qualities as former Llanelli favourites Wyn Thomas and Mark Jones' efforts levelled things up by the 29th minute.Craig Williams put Llanelli ahead again 2 minutes before the break but just after the hour mark - Mark Jones netted his 17th League goal of the season to make it 3-3. However Ryan Batley settled matters with 13 minutes left of play as he gave his side the lead for the third time of the afternoon and that proved to be the decisive score. Aberystwyth's day went from bad to worse as another former Llanelli player - Antonio Corbisiero was sent off in the final minute.
AFAN LIDO v NEWTOWN - MATCH ABANDONED AT HALF TIME DUE TO WATERLOGGED PITCH
A cracking Luke Borrelli goal after 15 minutes will not be recorded in the history books due to the fact that torrential rain meant that this match was abandoned at half time.
