Lloyd Grist has joined Port Talbot
Port Talbot Town have swooped to sign Llanelli’s captain Lloyd Grist on loan ahead of their crucial match against Carmarthen Town on Friday night.
Grist enjoyed two successful seasons during his first spell with the Blues and played a key role in helping Port Talbot qualify for Europe in his first season at the GenQuip stadium, making a total of 59 Welsh Premier League appearances before moving to Llanelli.
Scott Young was delighted to finally sign the 27-year-old, who has been a long-term target for the Town manager.
He was on our radar in January; nothing could be done then for one or two reasons and we’ve managed to bring him in now
“He was on our radar in January; nothing could be done then for one or two reasons and we’ve managed to bring him in now,” he said.
Grist, who has been allocated the number 11 shirt, can operate anywhere down the left and will give the Blues plenty of options for the remainder of the season.
“He’ll give us added strength down the left-hand side and he gives us some options that we can work on down the left and at the back,” Young explained. “James Bloom can play centre-half or left-back and Lloyd can play on the left side of defence or in midfield, so his arrival gives us one or two options and great competition for places.”
Grist arrived at Port Talbot from playing in the United States with Toronto Lynx, with previous spells at Caersws, Aberystwyth and Dinas Powys.
