The New Saints secured a vital win in their top of the table clash with Airbus UK, after goals from Ryan Fraughan and Alex Darlington, sealed a 2-1 victory.
The Saints opened the scoring after 21minutes, when Fraughan cut in from the right and smashed his shot low and hard, into the bottom corner. The former Tranmere Rovers winger was a constant threat down the right hand side, throughout the entire match.
Moments later, the away side doubled their lead. Darlington did brilliantly to win a penalty after rounding Jamie Stephens in the Airbus goal and after being brought down, he picked himself up to calmly place the ball into the bottom corner.
With Craig Harrison's men looking comfortable, Airbus pulled a goal back. Chris Budrys bundled in from close range, just before the break and the score remained 2-1 to The Saints at half time.
Both teams came out for the second half looking for the next goal and it was the home side that went the closest to scoring one. Kai Edwards under hit his back pass and Wayne Riley hit the post from the edge of the box.
With the game being played at a ferocious pace, Jamie Mullan came on to make his long awaited debut for his new side, replacing the fantastic Fraughan.
Chris Jones nearly added a third late on but his shot was well saved by the Airbus ‘keeper and the reigning champions held on for the final four minutes of injury time to give them a massive 10 point lead at the top of the Corbett Sports Welsh Premier League.
