Bangor City have completed the signings of striker Gary O'Toole from gap Connah's Quay and Levi Mackin from Chester.
Mackin, 26, started his career with Wrexham’s youth system and went on to make 68 first-team appearances for the Dragons between 2003 and 2009, featuring in the Football League and Conference.
A central or defensive midfield ball winner, he then spent two years with Blue Square Bet Premier club York City before a six-month spell at Alfreton Town was followed by a move to Chester in January 2012.
Although born in England, Mackin qualifies for Wales and made one under-21 appearance for the country against Northern Ireland in 2006.
Powell said: “Levi’s been training with us for a couple of weeks, liked what he saw, and decided to join us.
O’Toole is now reunited with Powell, who was manager of Connah’s Quay Nomads when the 25-year-old front man joined the club in 2005/06 after spells at Molyneux and Highfield Road (Coventry’s ground before they moved to the Ricoh Arena in 2005).
After making over 20 appearances and scoring three goals for Nomads, O’Toole went on to play for Caernarfon Town and Eastham before returning to Deeside Stadium and was the Huws Gray Alliance Golden Boot winner in 2011 and 2012.
O’Toole had his contract terminated by the Quay in November 2012.
“Gary was with me at Nomads for 18 months after being released by Coventry so I already know quite a bit about him,” added Powell. “He’s a great addition to the squad; he always works hard for the team, never stops chasing the ball, and is a proven goalscorer.
“He’d lined up a move to a club in Malta but that didn’t work out, so we’re delighted to have him on board.”
