Before the game against Prestatyn Town at the GenQuip Stadium on Saturday, Port Talbot fans unfurled a banner stating simply "Thank You Jonah" as a tribute to their former manager who lost his job during the week leading up to the match.
Mark Jones had been at the helm for three years in his second stint at the GenQuip and told the Official WPL website that the fans appreciation was "absolutely brilliant".
Jones added: "I'm really proud of the fact that the fans went to the effort of making the banner and apparently chanting my name during the game. Both gestures were wonderful compliments. I will obviously miss the club and wish them all the best in the future".
It was a very different weekend for Mark Jones who decided not to attend any football matches:
"In over twenty years - I've only had three or four Saturdays off during the whole period and to be honest it was really odd not being involved. I've still got a massive appetite for Welsh football and hope to be involved in the game again in the near future".
