Lee Hunt scored for Bala
A LAST-gasp penalty denied Bala after they had looked to have all three points in their grasp at Richmond Park.
The Lakesiders had led as early as the third minute through Lee Hunt’s spot kick, which was the striker’s 10th goal of the season in all competitions.
Bala were made to pay for not wrapping up the win with their earlier chances as 10-man Carmarthen were awarded a controversial penalty in the 90th minute after Stephen Brown was ruled to have handled.
Up stepped the hosts' top goalscorer Liam Thomas to give visiting keeper Ashley Morris no chance from the spot and salvage a point.
It was a frustrating end for Bala who, despite being fifth, are looking over their shoulders at a number of sides just below them as they battle for a top six position at the split.
The afternoon had started well enough for the visitors when Stef Edwards was brought down in the box, and Hunt converted the spot kick.
The rest of the half was a stalemate before sparking into life in the second period, with both sides having their opportunities.
Hunt sliced one effort wide from close in for Bala while Edwards, Brown and Ian Sheridan had further chances to take the game out of Carmarthen’s reach.
Bala had to make changes before the game with Kenny Lunt and Tony Davies both suffering from illness, with Ross Jefferies and Mike Byron replacing the duo.
