Carmarthen and Saints Reach Word Cup Final

Carmarthen Town came from behind to secure their place in the first ever Word Cup Final on January 12th 2013.

Former Swansea City striker Julian Alsop scored the vital goal after 69 minutes complementing Casey Thomas' classic strike after 28 minutes.

Antonio Corbisiero had given the visitors the lead after 17 minutes but a battling performance by the 'Old Gold' secured their place in the final and a guaranteed them a first major final appearance since their Welsh Cup victory in 2007.

Former Saints favourite Tommy Holmes put the cat among the pigeons after 13 minutes by putting the visitors ahead but two goals within a nine minute period by Ryan Fraughan and Chris Marriott gave the Saints a half time lead.

Although Mike Hayes restored parity three minutes after the interval-the game was ultimately decided by Chris Seargeant's penalty after 63 minutes.

Airbus keeper Ben Chapman was given his marching orders for the foul that lead to the penalty and midfielder Kyle Armstrong was unable to stop the penalty once he'd donned the gloves.

Two goals in stoppage time by substitutes Alex Darlington and Jason Lampkin gave the final score a somewhat flattering look but confirmed a place in the final for the Park Hall outfit.

So the first ever Word Cup Final will be contested between Carmarthen and The New Saints - live on S4/C on January 12th 2013.

Cyn hynny 'roedd cyn ffefryn Y Seintiau Tommy Holmes wedi rhoi Airbus ar y blaen (13) tan i goliau gan Ryan Fraughan(30) a Chris Marriott (39) sicrhau mantais ar yr egwyl i'r clwb cartref.
