Double delight for Lam as Met beat Barry 3-0

Met secure second successive top six finish with victory at Cyncoed

Cardiff Met 3-0 Barry Town United
Met Scorers: Jordan Lam 6' 80'; Eliot Evans 10'

Cardiff Met secured their place in the top six of the JD Welsh Premier League ahead of the split with a 3-0 victory over Barry Town United at Cyncoed Campus.

Both teams started the game at a quick pace, and Met were in front on 6', good work down the right from Dan Spencer led to Ben Bowler playing the ball into Jordan Lam, who turned and slotted home past Mike Lewis in the Barry goal.

Barry sought an immediate response from a corner that came to nothing, before Met got a second on 10', Eliot Evans controlling a cross from the left at the back post and finding the net despite Luke Cooper's attempts to clear the ball on the line.

Spencer then had a chance to extend the lead further, having been played through on goal via a long ball from the back, but couldn't get the ball under control before he was muscled off it by the covering defender.

Barry's best efforts in the first half came from distance, Jordan Cotterill and Kayne McLaggon firing just wide either side of Drew Fahiya forcing Will Fuller into a good save, tipping the midfileder's effort behind after a good ball from McLaggon had played him in.

The visitors had a prolonged period of pressure midway through the second half, Macauley Southam going close after jinking his way through the Met defence only to shoot straight at Fuller. Southam then curled an effort wide moments after, before McLaggon headed over from a free kick.

It was another Barry set piece that led to the final goal of the game, Met clearing a corner which sub Harry Owen raced onto. He broke into the Barry half and played it across to Lam, who took a few touches before finding space in the box to curl home his second and Met's third.

With Met safely in the top six, Barry were left ruing a missed opportunity to put distance between themselves and Cefn Druids in the race for the final top half spot. Barry still have it at the moment, goal difference still the only thing separating those sides.
