James Demetriou: 2017/2018 Biography & Statistics

Bangor City signed striker James Demetriou, 22, who was a free agent following his release from Cypriot-side Karmiotissa Pano Polemidia, who were relegated from the Cypriot first division last season, in October 2017.

The acquisition of the six-foot forward came the day after former Wales International striker Daniel Nardiello was released by the club, by mutual consent.

In 2013-14, the Australian-born Cypriot was given a two-year professional contract at Nottingham Forest having impressed locally at Sydney Olympic. He didn't make a first team appearance at the City Ground, but did receive his first international cap for Cyprus Under 21.

After continuing with a run of goals in the Under 21 league, Demetriou was offered an extension to his contract, but signed for Swansea City in June 2014, on a two-year deal.
At the Liberty Stadium, Demetriou played with friend and former Bangor starlet Henry Jones, as they helped the reserves win the U21 Premier League Title.

In June 2015, the youngster was fined £700 and reprimanded by The FA, after admitting to 13 breaches of the FA's Rule E8 on football betting, which related to thirteen bets placed on football matches between December 3, 2013, and January 21, 2015.

A loan spell with Wealdstone Rovers followed in March 2016, before his return to Cyprus. He scored for Barrow in a pre-season friendly in August, but he didn't sign for the Conference side.

Demetriou is expected to make his Citizens debut away at Bala Town on Saturday as International Clearance was received from the Cypriot FA on Friday morning.
