Saints Reduce Gap at Top to Ten

Report from Y Dre ar Y We

On a rain sodden pitch both sides did well to play some entertaining football. Saints had the best possible start on three minutes when on-loan debutant Stephen Pocket was unfortunate to put through his own goal with the keeper committed to the through ball.

Saints doubled the advantage on 22 minutes. Richie Partrige broke down the left and having drawn keeper Mike Lewis outside his area Partridge squared the ball across goal for Matthew Berkely to have the simplest of tap ins.

Despite the weather both sides dealt well with the testing conditions and just before the half hour Saints had a good chance when Craig Jones danced his way down the right but Berkely failed to convert.

Then on the stroke of half time had some reward for their considerable contribution. A ball down the left found Harrhy. With the forward rounding the keeper he netted from an angle to keep Town in contention at the break.

With seventeen minutes to play, referee Mark Whitby awarded the visitors a penalty, which captain Scott Ruscoe converted.
