Jones Inspired Bala off the Bottom

Bala Town claimed a convincing victory to climb off the bottom of the table, at the expense of their visitors, who drop to the foot of the table for the first time this season.

The hosts took the lead with a quarter of an hour played as striker Josh MacAuley scored his second penalty in as many games, to beat veteran Lee Williams in the Newtown goal. Parity was restored thirteen minutes later though, as left-back Paul Keddle scored his second goal of the campaign.

The hosts regained their advantage five minutes before the interval when Chris Mason beat Williams as the Lakesiders took the lead for the second time. After the break, Colin Caton's side extended their lead with a 58th minute goal from ex-Wales International Mark Jones and he then struck his brace just a minute later to make it 4-1 and a welcome three points.
