Bangor City dropped a huge hint to those in the race for the League's third spot, that they have every intention of claiming a European place through the League. Currently in sixth behind Aberystwyth, Rhyl and Port Talbot, Bangor have a favourable run-in and can not be written off.
The Citizens stunned Airbus UK Broughton at the Airfield this evening with a comprehensive 5-1 win, with striker Jamie Reed, who has aspirations to win the Golden Boot scoring a hat-trick.
The Wingmakers lost their 'keeper Kristian Rogers on the hour through injury and he was replaced on the pitch by defender Gareth Sudlow, but the damage had already been done, with the Citizens 4-0 up. The Welsh Cup holders scored two early goals with Reed scoring his first on five minutes and midfielder Craig Garside doubling the advantage a minute later. Reed made it 3-0 on twelve minutes, but Nev Powell's side had to ait until the hour to make it 4-0, as Eddie Jebb found the bck of the net.
Rogers was then replaced and ironically, it was the hosts who scored next as Carl Owen registered a consolation with eight minutes to play. Then, with a minute played in injury time, ex-Rhyl frontman Reed rounded off a fine evening for himself and his club with his hat-trick and Bangor's fifth.
