Unfortunate scores winner for Newtown

NEWTOWN boosted hopes of a place in next seasons Super 12 with a crucial win at Latham Park.

The Robins led three times, first going ahead in the fifth minute when Gavin Cadwallader headed home a Ross Stephens corner.

Prestatyn levelled through former Robin Steve Rogers on 12 minutes, but two minutes later Paul Roberts restored the lead latching onto a back header from Dave Hayes. The visitors were back on terms midway through the half when Steve Hoult broke the offside trap and, although his shot was saved by keeper Dave Roberts, Andy Moran fired in the rebound. In the second half Newtown went ahead when a Stephens free kick was palmed out by keeper Jonathan Dunt only for deHayes to put the loose ball into his own net.

Prestatyn finished with 10 men when, seven minutes from time, Hoult was sent off for his second booking for a challenge on Jack Hughes.
