Robins stunned by goal frenzy

A crazy 11-minute spell transformed a goalless deadlock into a goal fest as Bangor plundered victory at Latham Park to continue their upward spiral. Neither side could find the net in the first period but the Citizens seized full control with a four-goal blast straight after the interval as the Robins suffered a defensive disaster.

Ashley Stott set the ball rolling with a looping header on 49 minutes and then nodded his second a minute later from Jamie Reed's cross. The home defence was again caught cold as Chris Sharp found the net with a headed effort on 57 minutes before Reed chipped a fourth on the hour.

Stunned by the goal blitz, Newtown steadied the ship as sub Jamie Breeze pulled one back on 68 minutes. And the action continued with the Robins getting another back two minutes later after Obi Anoruo was fouled by Dave Swanick as he broke through. Swanwick was subsequently dismissed and Ross Stephens converted the spot kick.

Anoruo missed a golden chance to further reduce the arrears after good work by Breeze, but Sharp put the game out of reach when breaking through to score Bangor's fifth goal 10 minutes from time.
