Aberystwyth went to Farrar Road on Sunday afternoon looking for the three points that would lift them into the top half of the table.
The currently Managerless Seasiders duly obliged with a 1-0 victory over Bangor in front of over 600 spectators. Luke Bowen got the vital winner in the 37th minute, which leaves the former Champions and current Welsh Cup holders well adrift of a vital top ten place in the table.
If experienced defender Christian Edwards who was placed in temporary charge at Park Avenue following the resignation of Brian Coyne a fortnight ago, fancies the role on a permanent basis, he did his chances the world of good this afternoon.
The Seasiders were without the injured Caretaker Manager, as well as other experienced players such as Graham Evans, skipper Bari Morgan, Glyndwr Hughes and Adam James, but the eleven who took the field were certainly out to impress and they did just that in their narrow win
City Manager, Neville Powell will be concerned to have seen his side lose five of their first eight League games, but the former Connah's Quay boss has a wealth of experience in the Welsh Premier League and will be well aware that a couple of wins can make a big difference to both League position and confidence at this early stage of the campaign.
The good attendance at Farrar Road mirrors similar relatively large crowds at Bala and Neath on Friday evening, while the much smaller numbers that watched the four Saturday games was again disappointing. It is doubtless that the League needs to stage its games when the paying public wants to watch and there's compelling evidence that's not Saturday afternoons.
