THE New Saints maintained their winning ways but conceded a first goal of the season as Airbus proved more than a match at Park Hall.
Victory keeps the Saints clear at the top, now the only side in the league with a 100% record, but they failed to hit their earlier heights in an out-of-sorts second half showing. The Oswestry-based hosts started well enough, Steve Abbott hitting the post in a scramble while the striker was also denied by 'keeper Kristian Rogers.
And they went ahead on 20 minutes when, following a swift break upfield, Abbott netted the rebound after Rogers had saved from Matt Berkeley. The advantage was doubled on 33 when Jamie Wood's header from 15 yards crept inside the post.
Berkeley should have added another before Airbus hit back when a Ryan Edwards cross took a deflection to leave ex-TNS striker Marc Lloyd Williams a simple headed chance. Airbus threatened as the Saints toiled after the break; Matthew Cook firing wide while Lloyd-Williams glanced a header past the post from a Geo Feliciello long throw.
The hosts were content to hang on to what they had as they packed the midfield, but they could have gone further ahead late on. Sub Craig Williams sent a shot wide, before Ruscoe hit a post in added time and both Berkeley and John McKenna spurned the rebounds.
