A disappointing defensive performance cost Aberystwyth any points, as the Seasiders from Prestatyn notched a deserved win.
An uneventful beginning to the game was livened up on 27 minutes when a cross from the right found Alec Williams in the area. Steve Cann in the Aber goal saved his first effort, but Williams buried the rebound. Prestatyn then continued in the ascendancy and only an astonishing Cann save from Andy Moran kept Aber in the game.
Aber did improve after the break, and within three minutes of the restart, Luke Bowen was felled in the area by Russ Jones, and Luke Sherbon blasted the penalty home, for his first goal since re-joining the club from Rhyl. Geoff Kellaway was sending over some searching crosses, but then two goals in three minutes won the game for the visitors ended the contest. First Alec Williams on 57 minutes, then Andy Moran on 60 minutes, beat the offside trap to score.
Three home substitutions then livened things up and Aber did end the game strongly. With ten minutes to go Mike Waters' free kick was headed home by Luke Bowen, but Prestatyn's defence held firm and the visitors escaped with all three points. Mention should be given to Neil Morgan, who refereed a fiery game excellently, and relented from making even a single booking.
