LEE Hunt's towering header five minutes from time rescued a somewhat fortunate point for the champions against a fired-up Airbus last night.
Rhyl had taken a fifth-minute lead when a quick free-kick was played down the right to Mark Connolly, whose cross skidded across the six-yard box for Hunt to head home.
On 18 minutes the Wingmakers were level when poor communiciation in the Lilywhites defence led to a misplaced header which gave ex-Rhyl striker Marc Lloyd Williams ample space to fire past Paul Pritchard from 10 yards.
The champions then created a few opportunities but only one effort troubled Airbus keeper Kristian Rogers, a Gareth Owen missile to the near post which was well kept out.
Airbus finished the half strongly, Carl Owen seeing his 25-yarder tipped over by Pritchard, but from the resulting Matthew Cook corner Rhys Roberts was left free to head Craig Harrison's side in front.
Airbus' Owen had an open goal straight after the restart after Pritchard gifted the ball to him but he could only fire straight at the keeper.
After that Airbus looked likely to score a third, Lloyd Williams slicing wide before Owen latched on to another poor Pritchard clearance but blasted over.
On 85 minutes Greg Strongs side plundered the equaliser when Hunt beat Rogers with a brilliant header from a Luke Holden delivery. And Holden could have won it when a gaping goal presented itself deep into injury time, but his chip failed to clear Rogers.
