Kick off:19:30 Friday, 14 Aug 2009
Fixture Type: Welsh Premier League
Referee: Brian James
Prestatyn Town may well have taken the lead inside 60 seconds but Ian Griffiths miscued his chance and the Seasiders were left to rue that miss a couple of minutes later when Chris Seargeant won the ball out on the left and whipped in a cross which Matty Berkeley clipped home at the near post.
Worse was to come a few minutes later when Craig Jones nodded Sergeant's corner past debutant Matty Towns to make it 2-0.
On 22 minutes Steve Hoult pinged a 20-yard free kick over the bar and on the half hour, Prestatyn were handed a lifeline when Griffiths had his heels clipped by Danny Holmes in the box but Andy Moran spurned the chance to bag his 100th Welsh Premier League goal when his tame penalty was easily saved by Paul Harrison.
Five minutes before the break Saints killed off the game as a contest when first Jamie Wood and then Craig Jones doubled their tally to leave Neil Gibson's men playing for pride. Despite Jones heading against the bar on 46 minutes and Sergeant hammering home number five four minutes later, Town showed up much more brightly in the second half but on this form Saints will be among the leading pack come April.
