Principality Welsh Premier League Champions Rhyl thrilled an excited crowd of more than 1,500 with another top-quality performance against four-times top dogs The New Saints.
Rhyl's sun-drenched supporters were stunned into silence in the 13th minute as TNS threatened to spoil the party. John Toner saw his effort blocked following a superb move, but the ball fell to Alex Darlington, who placed the ball out of Lee Kendall's reach.
The qualities that have moulded Rhyl's championship push then came to the fore. Former Wrexham striker Neil Roberts levelled in the 24th minute with an exquisite volley from 20 yards and the winner quickly followed.
It was a howler from Barry Hogan that settled the issue, his intended floated back pass only finding Marc Connolly, who gratefully buried the gift.
The trophy is now in the cabinet, but tougher challenges overseas now await a Rhyl side who could have the right mixture to improve the Welsh Premiers standing in Europe.
