Rhyl's Roberts Duo sink the Nomads

Rhyl managed to hang on for the win at the Deeside Stadium despite a good Nomads fightback. Chris Roberts scored his first of the campaign tapping in following a Craig Vernon fumble from a Luke Holden free-kick

Neil Roberts then found the back of the net but was adjudged to be offside. He did double the advantage with a back-post header on 24 minutes, after an excellent cross from Marc Connolly. It was 3-0 when Roberts scored his second of the game and his sixteenth of the season with another good header from a Gareth Owen free-kick. He was denied his hat-trick shortly afterwards when a shot from outside the box hit the post.

The hosts had a glimmer of hope in first half stoppage time when Danny Forde latched onto a through ball from Ronnnie Morgan to make it 3-1. Neil Roberts then hit the post twice just after the brak and was again denied his hat-trick.

Twins Peter and Phil Doran were both denied by Mike Jones in the Rhyl goal with two smart saves, but Peter Doran did score a bizarre goal with ten minutes to go when his deep cross ended in the back of the net after Phil Doran had looked to have fouled 'keeper Jones. Teddy Whelan almost completed the come-back in stoppage time, but his header drifted wide.
