Ten-Man Romp for Robins

NEIL Mitchell fired his first hat-trick in Newtown colours as the Druids slipped back towards basement danger with a below-par showing at Latham Park.

Despite playing almost an hour with just 10 men, the Robins proved too strong for their visitors as they notched their first win in seven outings. Mitchell led the way, opening his account on 31 minutes as he fired home after a good move involving Craig Hutchinson and Craig Moses.

Craig Williams then doubled the advantage four minutes later when curling a superb free kick into the top corner. Newtown then had Gavin Cadwallader dismissed for his second booking moments later, but never looked in trouble despite being a man short.

Mitchell then increased the lead on 55 minutes when he latched on to Williams' long ball to fire past keeper Ged McGuigan before completing his hat-trick on 70 as he tucked in Moses' cross from the left.

Dave Jones, in the home goal, made a couple of saves but for most part was rarely troubled by an inconsistent Druids outfit.
