Leah pulls the Strings in Saints Victory

The New Saints took advantage of their Title Rivals inactivity to go level on points with Llanelli and within three points of leaders Rhyl with a comprehensive victory over the Druids at Park Hall.

The hosts had taken a First Half lead through defender Rob Williams - who has just returned from a loan spell at Caersws - and he rose higher than ex-Saint Ricky Evans to head the opener after 19 minutes.

The return to fitness of John Leah has been a real boost for the Saints, who struggled in December without their midfield maestro. And the 2006/07 League's Player of the Year was in top form this afternoon with the Saints' second goal on 65 minutes with a long-range special. When John Toner struck the third just two minutes later, the Saints had claimed all three points, even though Evans scored one for the Druids with his head with seven minutes remaining.

In stoppage time, sub Mike Wilde scored a fourth for the Saints, who had handed a debut to striker Matthew Berkeley, who signed from Hyde Utd on Friday.
