Druids need to find some magic

SITTING just three points below the relegation zone, the pressure was on Newi Cefn Druids to deliver maximum points against neighbours Airbus UK but that result never ever looked likely, especially after they were left chasing the game after just two minutes.

Defender Giovanni Feliciello broke down the left flank and his floated cross sailed over the head of stranded keeper Carl Edwards, but only Feliciello will know whether the goal was meant. The Druids offered very little in response and by the interval they had not had one shot on target, complained their manager Lee Jones.

This Yuletide encounter failed to live up to expectations and the Wingmakers doubled their tally on the stroke of half time when Tom Rowlands beat two players and broke free to cross for Phil Molyneux to net from close range after Edwards failed to judge the flight of the ball. Edwards, however, turned in a textbook second-half display and saved Druids from a rout.

The closest the home side came was an effort in the 56th minute from substitute Mike Heverin, which former Tranmere keeper Phil Palethorpe easily dealt with, and a shot by Ricky Evans late in the game which clipped the bar.
