Matt's the Way to Do It

Two early Mattie Williams goals settled Lilywhites' nerves, as they bounced back from last week's shock defeat to the Druids, but they were made to battle hard by the Robins.

"Every team is going to have a blip during the season and I always felt we could bounce back straight away," Bickerstaff said.

Williams blasted a superb 18th-minute goal that gave home keeper Dave Jones no chance and six minutes later a deft flick made it 2-0.

But Newtown, desperate to overturn a record of no wins at home against Rhyl in eight years, stormed back through Craig Moses' header but Rhyl held firm to top the league at Christmas.
