A THIRD successive win propelled Carmarthen into fourth spot in the table after sending Newtown sliding to their first defeat in five outings.
All the goals came in the first half with Newtown twice taking the lead only to see the West Wales visitors hit back deservedly to take the spoils. Mark Griffiths had given the Robins an 11th-minute lead following a poor kick from keeper Neil Thomas, but that was soon cancelled out by Stuart Roberts, who dispatched a right-wing cross.
Defender Danny Jellicoe then restored the home advantage when heading home an Adam Worton corner from the left to boost the Newtown prospects. However, Carmarthen had the measure of their opponents, with Jamal Easter earning parity a second time when converting a 33rd minute penalty. Paul Fowler then fired what proved a winner four minutes later with a well-taken strike as the Newtown defence continues to leak goals.
