Five-Star Aber go Nap on the Druids

NEWI Cefn Druids were always second favourites going into this encounter against visitors Aberystwyth as it was almost six years since they had made any impression against them at Plaskynaston.

Aber took a 10th-minute lead after a defensive gaffe, Andy Evans beating Carl Edwards from close range.

NEWI hit back and deservedly pulled level in the 17th minute following some great work by Andy Edgar, and Mike Heverin scoring with ease. Going in all-square at the break the home fans thought this six-year hoodoo could be broken. Aber had other ideas, however, and restored their lead with what NEWI were claiming was an offside offence, but Evans converted regardless of the protests.

The goal really did knock the stuffing out of Druids. Heads dropped, and Chris Venables extended Aber's tally - two more goals in the next five minutes and they had NEWI on the ropes.

Geoff Kellaway gift-wrapped the fourth goal and they went nap from the penalty spot with Luke Sherbon the scorer. A deep cross from Ricky Evans enabled T.Lee Jones to reduce the deficit late on.
