THREE spurned chances in the first half cost Bangor City dear, when battling visitors Aberystwyth Town fought out a goal-less draw in an even contest at Farrar Road. Misdirected headers by Chris Sharp and Les Davies, and then a Sharp drive blocked by onrushing keeper Dave Roberts, could have proved profitable.
Sharp's one-on-one occurred with 11 minutes played when the striker burst clear at a slight angle on the left, only for Aberystwyth's stopper to close down quickly to divert the effort for a corner. Davies' wasted header was from six yards after he met a Marc Limbert deep cross from the right, but steered the gift wide of the gaping target, and then Sharp did the same on 21 minutes from a Sion Edwards centre.
City had one major escape close to the hour when Davies cleared the goal line to deny Sean Evans. Home keeper Paul Smith was rarely called into action but had to stretch once to divert a Chris Venables' right angled drive.
