AFTER two defeats, Airbus got off the ground with a timely victory at Latham Park as skipper Tom Rowlands' first-half strike proved decisive.
The Wingmakers bossed the first half against a Newtown defence strangely all at sea, with Rowlands going close early on when seeing his shot saved by 'keeper Dave Jones. But the same player was not to be denied on 20 minutes when converting after Mark Cadwallader had broken down the left.
Wes Kilgannon had a shot saved and Paul Hallows put another effort wide. Newtown were a different proposition in the second half as they fought to get their act together, but they were too late to stop Airbus taking off.
