ANDY Evans starred with a hat-trick and two assists as Aberystwyth Town scored six for the second successive game. After starting purposefully, Connah's Quay were left completely demoralised and with lingering relegation fears, by a rampant second-half home performance. Such was Aber's dominance that manager Brian Coyne gave 17-year-old substitute goalkeeper Llew Hughes a run for the final 10 minutes.
Aber took an 11th-minute lead when Nomads' failure to deal with an Andy Evans header left Luke Sherbon free to net from close range. There was no hint of what was to come, however, as the visitors levelled five minutes later through a Chris Herbert penalty after a foul by goalkeeper David Jones. Andy Evans headed in a 24th minute corner to restore home advantage. It was maintained four minutes into the second half by a crucial David Jones block from Sam McNutt.
Geraint Passmore's 57th-minute headed goal was followed 11 minutes later by Evans's second. Promising youngster Robert Evans and Geoff Kellaway combined to set up Stuart Roberts for the 82nd-minute fifth and Andy Evans completed his hat-trick from a last-minute Robert Evans centre.
