Saints back on Top after Porth Win

NORMAL service was resumed at Park Hall as champions the New Saints returned to top spot in the Welsh Premier following back-to-back league and cup defeats.

They now lead Llanelli, their only threat to a unique four successive titles, by a point, while Porthmadog's top-flight future now hangs in the balance after another setback. New signing Kevin Towson eased nerves with a sixth-minute opener and he was involved in the second 25 minutes later, after John Toner had missed a golden opportunity.

The former Rochdale striker was at the heart of Scott Ruscoe's strike that gave his side a comfortable 2-0 cushion, but the plucky visitors pulled one back from Gareth Parry.

Porth's joy lasted just 60 seconds as Chris King restored the two-goal advantage and Toner killed the game off a minute after the interval
