NEWTOWN made light of the departure of top scorer Marc Lloyd Williams as they rediscovered their winning habit on home soil. The prolific Lloyd-Williams had switched to Welsh Premier rivals Rhyl just a few days earlier, but the Robins responded in fine style with new strike partners Craig Moses and Tommy Mutton destroying Connah's Quay in a 4-1 win.
Victory was founded on a flying start with Newtown's early pressure rewarded when, after just four minutes, Adam Worton crossed into the box following a corner and defender Hugh Clarke stole in to convert with a diving header.
The hosts continued to push with several Damien Daniels corners providing danger. It was from one of those flag kicks on eight minutes, only half cleared by Nomads, that Glenn Tolley's deflected strike from the edge of the box found the net.
Former Nomad, Mutton then had a header disallowed, but a third goal arrived on 26 minutes when Mutton crossed for Richard Williams-Cooke to fire home. Tom Baker pulled one back for the Nomads on 40 minutes but on 72 minutes Moses lashed a 25-yarder into the top corner.
