ABERYSTWYTH TOWN came to NEWI Cefn Druids with a game plan worked to perfection, rewarding the Seasiders with a 2-0 victory. They weathered the early storm and should have taken a 16th minute lead when Geoff Kellaway broke free down the right and squared for Geraint Passmore.
But he chose the wrong option when Luke Sherbon was in a better position to score. Their opening goal finally arrived after 23 minutes when a free kick from Andy Evans took a wicked deflection to wrong foot Chris Mullock in the NEWI goal.
The hosts pressed to get back on level terms, with Geraint Lewis and then Osian Jones both going close. But Aber stood firm, even in the second period when central defender Timmy Edwards linked up well with Chris McGinn.
But his good effort was thwarted by keeper Dave Jones. With Cefn forced to throw caution to the wind, Aber broke and added a second goal through Evans, whose tame shot squirmed under Mullock's body.
