Almost Wright on time for Airbus

WHILE this was a well-earned point for Airbus, following similar good results against TNS and Welshpool, they will possibly feel they could have done better in a game where the pitch was the only real winner. The visitors enjoyed the better of limited goal opportunities and could have clinched maximum spoils had not Darren Wright struck a post two minutes from time with the goal wide open in front of him.

Referee Dean John thought long and hard before allowing the game to go ahead and both sides struggled with the frosty, bone hard surface. With Chris Doran injured in the pre-match warm up, youngster Ashley Crossweight took over in the Airbus goal for the second time this campaign and was called into early action, saving from Geoff Kellaway.
Darren Wright then went close for the visitors but there was little else to warm up spectators before the break.

Airbus had slightly more of the play in a second half largely dominated by two strong rear guards. Jamie McIntosh and Adam Hunter both went close for Airbus, while Geraint Passmore fired a long range shot narrowly over for the home side. Wright should have clinched the points for Airbus at the death, but his miss ensured Aber, while dropping two home points, stretched their unbeaten League and Cup run to eight matches.
