Ten-Men Saints held by gutsy WIngmakers

THE New Saints' club record 12-match winning streak ran out of steam in a goalless deadlock at Park Hall as a gutsy Airbus UK Broughton, returned with a share of the spoils. The Saints endured a frustrating afternoon and enjoyed the Lions-share of possession, but surprisingly lacked the potency in-front of goal that they have become accustomed to - The do however, remain top of the League on Goal Difference.

Their afternoon took a nose-dive when just before the break, left-back Chris King was sent for an early shower for foul and abusive language to referee Paul Thomas. The villain had previously forced a good save from Airbus 'keeper Chris Doran in an early attack, while striker Carl Lamb headed just wide from a Scott Ruscoe cross. The visitors had their chances and almost snatched the lead on 14 minutes when hitman Paul Hallows saw his header from a Rees Darlington cross tipped on to the bar by Paul Harrison, who also saved when Phil Molyneux broke through later in the half. Even though down to 10 men, TNS still enjoyed plenty of the game against stubborn opponents, but could not make the breakthrough.
