Moran is Spot On for Lilywhites

Rhyl needed an 84th-minute Andy Moran penalty to finally see off the brave challenge of an Airbus side who played most of the second half with 10 men and lost their keeper through injury.

Lilywhites manager John Hulse was far from impressed as he told the Daily Post,

"We went out with the wrong attitude," said Hulse. There was no urgency in our play and Airbus seemed more up for it than us, but I suppose if you have a bad night at the races and still win it can't be bad."

The hosts took a seventh -minute lead when a quickly taken James Kelly free-kick reached Moran who drilled home from 10 yards.

Airbus responded well, James McIntosh forcing a good save from Lee Kendall before Steve Hopkins blasted just over. On 38 minutes the equaliser arrived when McIntosh volleyed in from 15 yards.

Hopkins was dismissed three minutes after the break for a second yellow card offence, a dreadful challenge on George Horan. Things got worse for the Wingmakers when 'keeper Andy Hughes was stretchered off with a head injury after a bad collision with Craig Jones.

Replacement McIntosh was hardly tested until he was harshly adjudged to have brought down Lee Hunt and Moran put away the resulting penalty.
