Davies Brothers ensure Port leapfrog Druids

<1>Goals from the Davies brothers, Ryan and Les, ensured that Port leapfrogged NEWI Cefn Druids, which dents the Druids' hopes of finishing in the top 12 of the Principality Welsh Premier.

The Druids fell behind as early as the sixth minute as Les Davies cut in from the right and fired low past Carl Edwards in the Druids goal. Druids' striker Mike Heverin came close to equalising for the visitors, but his snapshot went just wide of the post.

<2r>The miss proved costly as, in the 27th minute, Porthmadog doubled the advantage. The home side's Aled Rowlands sent in a corner from the right and Ryan Davies' header took a deflection off a defender which saw the ball loop over Edwards and into the net.

Shortly after the interval Porthmadog got the third when Ryan Davies found Clayton Blackmore on the edge of the box and the former Manchester United defender was able to curl his shot past Edwards' dive and into the top corner of the net.

The closest Druids came to reducing the deficit came when Osian Jones noticed 'keeper Richard Harvey off his line and, from fully 40 yards out, the winger tried to chip the keeper, only for the stopper to retreat just in time and tip the effort over the bar for a corner.
