Mutton Hat-trick sinks Old Golds

<1r>Connah's Quay Nomads ran riot in the second half at Cae y Castell, spearheaded by prolific striker Tommy Mutton, who blasted a magnificent hat-trick. It was a vital win for the hosts, who had slipped up badly in their two previous matches, going down to Bangor City and Airbus UK.

For Carmarthen, it was their first defeat in six Welsh Premier matches, leaving manager Mark Jones glowing in his tribute to Nomads' lethal strike force of Mutton and Adam Dickinson. "Mutton was sensational and has been a thorn in my side since I became a Welsh Premier manager," he said. "And Adam Dickinson is a terrific player. He impressed me earlier in the season and why he was not snapped up by Wrexham is a mystery to me."

The All Golds went ahead in the fourth minute, Paul Fowler drilling home a fine effort, but Mutton levelled before the break from 10 yards. Mutton put his side in front four minutes after the restart from close range, before an excellent move involving Mutton, Dickinson and Marc Limbert ended with the latter firing a stunning shot into the roof of the net.

And Nomads' joy was complete when another mint Mutton goal, 16 minutes from time, ended Carmarthen's hopes.
